Nuisance Property at 718 N. 2nd Street Ordered for Demolition

The Rogers City Council has declared the property at 718 N. 2nd Street a public nuisance and will vote on an ordinance to order its demolition. The decision comes after repeated inspections revealed numerous safety hazards, including structural instability, unsecured access, and potential risks to public health and safety.

City officials noted that the property, owned by Haute Catacomb, LLC, has been abandoned and has deteriorated to a point where it poses a danger to the community. The site has become a haven for vagrants and an attractive nuisance for children, raising concerns among residents and city leaders.

Under the ordinance, the property owner will have 30 days to demolish and clean up the site. If the owner fails to comply, the city will proceed with the demolition and place a lien on the property to recover the costs. “This action is necessary to protect public safety and restore the area’s aesthetic appeal,” said a city spokesperson. The council is expected to approve the ordinance during the upcoming meeting.
