Modernizing Public Safety: New Body Cameras for Rogers Police
The Rogers City Council has approved a $75,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Public Safety to purchase upgraded body cameras and other recording equipment for the Rogers Police Department. The decision was part of the December 10, 2024, City Council meeting, where the resolution also authorized the city to enter into an agreement with Turn-Key Mobile, Inc. of Jefferson City, Missouri.
The grant will be used to purchase body-worn cameras, motor vehicle cameras, and interview room recording systems, as well as upgrades to the department’s on-site server for footage storage. In total, the project will cost up to $130,000, utilizing the grant funds along with locally budgeted money.
The Council waived competitive bidding requirements to ensure compatibility with the department’s existing records management and mobile data systems. Chief Johnathan Best explained the importance of maintaining an integrated approach, saying, “This investment improves transparency while supporting our officers with the latest technology for evidence gathering and accountability.”
This initiative reinforces Rogers’ commitment to public safety and modern law enforcement practices. With the new technology, the department is expected to improve operational efficiency and maintain community trust.
