The Future has Arrived? Autonomous Lawn Mower Approved for Parks Maintenance

The Rogers Parks Department is set to receive a state-of-the-art autonomous lawn mower, following the City Council’s approval of a $25,000 budget reallocation during the December 10, 2024, meeting. The mower will be purchased from Right Choice Outdoor Products, LLC, based in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and will be used to maintain city parks, including sports fields.

The Council waived competitive bidding requirements for this purchase, as Right Choice Outdoor Products is currently the sole provider of this type of machine. The mower, valued at $50,917.49, will help the Parks Department save on labor costs while maintaining the city’s high standards for public spaces.

Quinton Harris, Parks and Recreation Director, said, “The addition of this equipment represents a significant step forward in how we manage our parks. By adopting this innovative solution, we can allocate resources more effectively and ensure our public spaces remain pristine.”
