Rogers Secures $8.7 Million Climate Grant for Green Infrastructure Projects
ROGERS, Ark. – The City of Rogers is making a major investment in green infrastructure and environmental sustainability after receiving an $8.7 million Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) from the Environmental Protection Agency.
The funding will support projects focused on stream and wetland restoration, land preservation, and expanding trail networks. One of the major initiatives will be the Osage/Blossom Way Creeks restoration project, which aims to improve local water quality, prevent erosion, and create new public green spaces.
A Commitment to Sustainability
The grant is part of a federal initiative to reduce pollution and enhance environmental resilience in growing communities. Over the next five years, the funding will be used to:
Restore local streams and wetlands, reducing flood risks and improving habitats.
Expand the city’s trail system, enhancing walkability and bike accessibility.
Preserve open spaces, protecting natural areas from overdevelopment.
"This is a transformational opportunity for Rogers," said John McCurdy, Director of Community Development. "Investing in our natural environment makes our city more livable, protects local wildlife, and ensures long-term sustainability as we continue to grow."
What This Means for Residents
The Osage/Blossom Way Creeks project will provide new recreational areas, cleaner waterways, and better stormwater management. Local trails will also be extended, creating safer pedestrian and bicycle routes.
City officials will release a detailed project timeline later this year, with public meetings planned for community input.
