City Council to Consider Approval of Phase 1 for Water Resource Recovery Facility Construction
The Bentonville City Council is set to review and potentially approve a significant step forward in the construction of the new Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) located at 1901 N.E. A Street. Phase 1 of the project, valued at a maximum of $97,657,916.00, includes a wide range of essential construction services aimed at laying the groundwork for the facility.
The scope of Phase 1 covers earthwork, utilities, site construction and demolition, installation of yard piping, construction of an influent structure, and the building of an electrical facility. Additionally, a secondary clarifier and maintenance building will be constructed, along with concrete tanks and other necessary structures.
Crossland Heavy Contractors, INC, has been selected to provide construction management and general contractor services for the project. Their selection followed the City's standard Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process, in compliance with state procurement laws. The contract is contingent on the successful closing of Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (ANRC) funding, with a budget adjustment to follow.
City staff have requested that the City Council approve a resolution authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) amendment to the existing professional services agreement with Crossland Heavy Contractors. This ensures that construction management and general contractor services will be capped at the agreed amount, providing financial safeguards for the project.
The new WRRF is a critical investment for Bentonville’s growing infrastructure, designed to meet increasing demand while ensuring the city maintains high water quality standards. As the city expands, the need for updated and expanded water treatment facilities becomes ever more pressing, and Phase 1 of this project marks a major milestone toward completing the state-of-the-art WRRF.
Should the Council approve the resolution, work on the facility is expected to begin shortly, pending the finalization of funding and any necessary budget adjustments.
