Expanding Horizons: The Bentonville Public Library Expansion Project

Bentonville, AR – The Bentonville Public Library is nearing the completion of an ambitious expansion project that promises to transform its services and facilities. Slated for completion in fall 2024, the expansion includes the addition of a state-of-the-art makerspace, an enlarged children's area with a dedicated storytime and craft zone, and a redesigned teen zone equipped with modern study and collaboration spaces.

The expansion project, which broke ground in spring 2023, encompasses a total cost of $16.75 million, funded through a partnership between the City of Bentonville and the Bentonville Library Foundation. "This expansion is a reflection of our community's growth and its evolving needs. Our new spaces are designed to foster creativity, learning, and community interaction in a modern setting," explained the library director.

Highlighting the community's involvement, over 100 residents participated in a topping-out ceremony, leaving their signatures on a beam that now forms part of the library's new structure. This gesture symbolized the community's support and collective anticipation for the new facilities.

Once completed, the expanded library will offer an array of programs ranging from arts and crafts to technology and coding classes, all aimed at enriching the community's educational landscape.

Each of these stories illustrates the Bentonville Public Library’s dedication to serving as a cornerstone of the community, fostering education, sustainability, and growth through its dynamic initiatives and programs.
