Bentonville Allocates $2.75 Million for Storm Recovery Efforts
In the wake of the devastating storms that hit Bentonville in May 2024, the City Council is set to approve a budget adjustment totaling $2,752,687.83. This critical funding, sourced from the General, Utility, and Street Fund reserves, will ensure that the city recovers swiftly and effectively from the damage.
The adjustment will cover a range of storm-related expenses, including overtime wages for emergency responders, mutual aid to assist impacted areas, temporary labor to expedite recovery, and repairs to damaged infrastructure. Funds will also be allocated for the purchase of essential equipment to replace storm-damaged resources.
City officials emphasize that the adjustment demonstrates Bentonville’s commitment to resilience in the face of extreme weather events. “This funding is not just about recovery—it’s about reinforcing our infrastructure to ensure we are prepared for future challenges,” said a city spokesperson.
The approval of this adjustment will enable the city to maintain its high standard of safety and service delivery for residents as the community rebuilds.
