Bella Vista is embarking on a significant modernization effort, with over $13 million allocated for infrastructure improvements, technology upgrades, and urban planning initiatives in the next five years. These investments are designed to enhance the city’s roads, equipment, and operational efficiency while addressing the challenges of growth.

Street Department: Building a Stronger Foundation

The Bella Vista Street Department is spearheading infrastructure upgrades with more than $13 million in capital requests through 2029. Major projects include:

  • Street Overlay Resurfacing: $9.6 million is dedicated to improving road surfaces, enhancing safety, and extending pavement life across the city.

  • New Home Road Construction: An annual allocation of $500,000 will fund road development to accommodate new housing areas.

  • Heavy Equipment Investments: Key purchases include $373,000 for a grader with rippers and $224,000 for a small excavator, ensuring the department has the tools to maintain and expand city infrastructure.

Additionally, the city is investing in snow readiness, including $41,000 for snowplows and $33,000 for salt spreader stands, ensuring Bella Vista is prepared for winter weather.

Modernizing Technology and Planning

Beyond infrastructure, Bella Vista is focusing on modernization across various departments:

  • IT Upgrades: $140,000 is allocated in 2025 for IT improvements, including a firewall refresh and server upgrades to enhance cybersecurity and operational reliability.

  • Planning and Development Projects: The city has earmarked $324,871 for projects such as zoning code reform, wayfinding signage, and FEMA storm damage remediation.

  • Grant Management Software: $20,000 will be spent to implement software for managing grants, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for future projects.

These investments highlight Bella Vista’s proactive approach to addressing growth while maintaining a high quality of life for its residents.
