Bentonville Park Projects Continue to Make Progress in 2024

Bentonville's parks and recreation projects are moving forward, with several key developments making significant headway, according to updates from the Bentonville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting held on September 9, 2024. The city's commitment to enhancing its parks, trails, and public spaces is evident through a series of completed and ongoing projects.

Completed Projects

Several projects have recently reached completion, marking important milestones in the city’s development. Among them:

  • Bella Vista Lake Restroom Facility: A much-needed upgrade to visitor amenities is now complete.

  • Bella Vista Lake Parking Lot and Trail Connection: Both have been finished, offering improved access to the lake and its recreational areas.

  • Bella Vista Lake Play Structure: Another finished project that provides a new recreational space for children.

  • SW Bentonville Trail BCC to Bright Road: This trail segment has been completed, adding to the city's expansive network of cycling and walking paths.

Ongoing Projects

Many other projects are still in progress, with several nearing completion:

  • Phillips Park Construction: Currently 50% complete, this major park project is a central focus for the city, aiming to enhance community spaces.

  • Gateway Park - Park Design: Bid evaluation is underway for this significant project, which will further expand Bentonville's park offerings.

  • McColloum Street Sidepath Trail - Phase II: Design is 75% complete, with revisions in place. Bidding for this project is expected by mid-2024.

Additionally, several trail projects are underway:

  • SW Bright Road Trail: Currently 5% complete, with further progress expected soon.

  • Morningstar to Vendor Drive Trail: The design phase is halfway done, and the project is moving forward steadily.

Design and Planning in Progress

  • Razorback Greenway (P Street) Reroute: With design and right-of-way acquisition underway, the project is set to go to bid by mid-2024.

Future Projects and Community Enhancements

Bentonville is also investing in long-term community assets, including the development of a new Adult Recreation Center and ongoing improvements to the Parks Maintenance Facility, which is 60% complete in its design and testing phase.
