Bella Vista Expands Code Enforcement with Development Compliance Officers

In an effort to strengthen enforcement of planning and development regulations, the Bella Vista City Council approved an ordinance to establish Development Compliance Officers within the Planning and Development Department.

These officers will have the authority to ensure compliance with zoning, permit requirements, stormwater regulations, septic system enforcement, and other development-related policies.

Since launching in December 2024, the Compliance Division has already addressed over 150 complaints, closing 52 cases through voluntary compliance. The new ordinance grants these officers the ability to issue citations as a final measure for violations.

“This step enhances our ability to enforce development standards effectively while providing fair oversight,” said Planning and Development Director Taylor Robertson.
